Tips for Students from Low Income Families to Fund Their Education

While the importance of education cannot be understated, and its benefits have been well documented, the ever increasing tuition fee is making it more and more difficult for students from low income families to be able to afford college and higher education.

College fee should not be something we should have to worry over; education should be a basic human right that everyone has access to. While this basic right is understood, and there are even ways that students from low income families can study in spite of not being able to afford the ridiculously high fee, they are not always aware of those means and end up either taking loans, if they are lucky, or unlucky if I may say, to get one, which they keep repaying the rest of their lives, or simply letting go of their college dream. They lack the guidance and support.

Most of the time the brighter students do not even apply to the better colleges and universities since they feel that it is of no use if they cannot even pay for it even though if they manage to get financial aid they may have to pay less than what they would have to at a common college. Therefore, a big gap exists in the educational achievement between students from low income families and those belonging to rich families.

There may be times when students are unable to qualify for loans and grants even though they may really be needy. Colleges should look after such students. One such example of a college trying to help out needy students is Stanford University that has announced a waiving of tuition for all students whose parents have a less than $125,000 annual income, and a waiving of tuition as well as room and board fee for those with a less than $65,000 annual income.
This is a great help to those who are unable to attend college due to money issues in spite of being qualified to. Although Stanford has waived the tuition fee for lower income students, it does require them to make some sort of an annual contribution in the form of $5,000 for college expenses. This, in my opinion, is a good initiative as it would teach the students that not everything is free and if they want something they have to make some kind of an effort toward it. It reminds them that independence is expensive. Similarly, Harvard and Princeton also have fee waiver policy for students whose parents have an annual income of below a certain amount.

Financial aid is available for certain students meeting the required qualification. There are three basic ways that financial aid is provided: in the form of loans and gift aid in the form of scholarships and grants.

“Free Money” options

Gift aid is given in the form of scholarships and grants. Some colleges provide merit based financial aid in the form of scholarships, that is, it depends on how well you have been performing at the various areas of academics or athletics. Or maybe because you belong to a particular background, such as having a military family or parents working at a particular company.

Grants are need-based gift money. Those belonging to a low income family can apply for grants after which they are assessed to make sure they qualify. For instance, as discussed above, Stanford University provides grants for students whose parents have an annual income less than $125,000. This is an example of a grant offered from the university itself. Mostly grants come from government agencies so no credit check is required when you apply. While bad credit and low income will possibly stand in your way when applying for loans, such is not the case with publicly funded government grants which are even granted to those with no credit.

One such option is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) through which you are provided with the most access to financial aid for college tuition. There are four common grants that you can apply for.

Pell Grant: this is for the undergraduate students still enrolled in their bachelor’s degree.

TEACH Grants: TEACH stands for the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant. This type of grant applies to students pursuing a teaching career and intending to teach at a low income school. In case the student does not end up teaching, he/she will be required to pay back the grant as it will then be considered a loan.

Iran & Afghanistan Service Grants: this applies for students whose parents or guardians died performing military duties after September 11, 2001.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG): this is an option for undergraduate students having extraordinary financial needs.

To start you simply need to submit a FAFSA and from there your college will work on the amount you can receive as a grant.

Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study Program is for financially needy students. Through the program students are able to find work and can earn money to be able to afford their college expenses. While this money may not be available for you right at the beginning for your tuition, it will definitely help you out later on during the semester when other college expenses would probably keep increasing and burning a hole in your pocket.

Federal/Institutional Aid

Federal student loans include Perkins, Stafford and PLUS. A good thing about federal student loans is that they offer a very low interest rate. Besides, in case borrowers have trouble with repayments, they are given certain options to help reduce or suspend their payments.

Do not simply give up on your college dream just because of the tuition fee. Apply everywhere you want to and search for various scholarships and grants, through the government, respective college, and otherwise as well. There are several options out there and all you need to do is look. Chances are that they are also just looking for students whose education they would like to fund.

I Need 100 Dollars Right Now I Will Do Anything!

I Need 100 Dollars is another frequently asked question therefore If you need 100 dollars right now and you're prepared to do anything then take a few moments to read this guide. I have been in a similar situation when I needed money urgently. You might need the money to pay off a nasty debt or to grab an investment opportunity that's too good to miss out. Finding $100 dollars should not be too hard but you should avoid getting into the habit of desperately looking for money. In this guide we look at some of the inventive ways you can raise $100 fast within 24 hours. When I need cash right now I still use some of these strategies.

http://millionairegivingmoney.blogspot.co.uk//2013/09/i-need-5000-dollars-right-now-i-will-do.html

I Need 100 Dollars Fast

1: Sell Some Valuables and Get 100 Dollars Now

When I need money right now I consider selling valuables. You should do is go through all your valuables, this could be jewelry, laptops, cameras, digital cameras, games consoles, books. Make a list of all the things that you are prepared to sell. Itemize all the items and then take the list to a local pawn store or cash converters. Ask the manager to value the items and give you a rough figure, you should be able to make the $100 threshold if you have enough items. You can either get a loan against the items pawned or just sell them, if these items have sentimental value then getting a loan and paying it off might be a better option. If you need 100 dollars by tomorrow then this is a very effective strategy.

http://millionairegivingmoney.blogspot.co.uk//2014/06/i-need-10000-dollars-i-will-do-anything.html

2: Offer Your Services If you Need $100

When I need a 100 dollars now I offer my services to neighbours. Go knocking door to door and explain that you are offering your services at $10 per hour. Explain that your in financial difficulties and need to come up with $100 in one day otherwise you'll be in trouble. Offer to do any odd jobs around the house and highlight any DIY experience you have. You'll be surprised at how generous community members might be. If they refuse to offer you work just ask for a small donation, every little helps. When I need 100 dollars quickly turning to my local community has always been worthwhile.

3: $100 Payday Loans

If you've got a regular income you could try pay day loans, depending on how good your credit is you could get anything between $100 to $1000, this does not mean you have to borrow the full amount. When I need 100 dollars today and have no other option I consider this method. Whenever I need to borrow 100 dollars I always use a comparison site to compare the loans so I get the best deal for borrowing the money. Remember that you have to pay the money back and these short term high risk loans have really really high levels of interest. If I were you I would use this as a last resort. You could also consider getting cash loans online or online payday cash advances from different lenders, another option is fax payday loans which are much faster.

Remember only borrow what you need as these lenders can charge a very high APR interest rates. Whenever I need a 100 dollar loan I find the lowest APR possible. There are so many short term loans you can choose from, these include cash loan online, payday loans online and online cash advances. Some of the lenders you should consider include 100DayLoans.com and CashNetUSA.com. Both of these payday loan brokers have a comprehensive list of short term loan companies which means you will get the best deal.

4. Stock Market and Options Paying 100 Dollars

You could learn how to make 100 dollars a day by mastering the stock market. If you're looking to make a quick buck and are quite analytic you could try turning your attention to the stock market or Forex. You can really leverage your money using Forex and if you can get onto a winning trade you can sometimes get a return of 1000%. If you've got about $30 then try one of these high risk trades, make sure you've got a stop loss so you don't lose more than $30 otherwise you'll be owing the broker more money. You can open an account and fund it straight away and then start trading immediately, once you've made your money you could cash out with $100. When I first started investing in options I thought I just need 100 dollars, after paper trading I became more proficient and was able to make a few hundred every week. If you stay disciplined and implement stop losses you will make more than you lose.

5. Go On a Date for 100 Dollars!

Make 100 dollars fast by agreeing to go on dates for money. If there's a person who's been pestering you for a date then tell them your problems and go out with them in exchange for money. Let them know beforehand that the payment is just for the date and if anything else should happen then it's because you wanted it to. Most people are willing to pay $100 to go out with someone that they really like.

6. Wash Cars/Mow Lawns - Wash 5 Cars/Mow 5 Lawns

Whenever I need a 100 dollars now I consider manual labour. A quick way of making $100 fast is to wash cars and mow lawn. Go equipped and knock on doors asking if they want their cars washed or lawn mowed. Charge $10 for each service and spend no longer than half an hour completing the job an then move onto the next person in the neighborhood. If you can mow 5 lawns and wash 5 cars you can make $100 really fast.

Wake up really early on the day you need the money, make a plan on how you intend to make $100 today and then work relentlessly towards the target. Always have a back up plan and be as creative as possible to get the job done. Look at everything as though it was an opportunity to make money and you'll reach your target.

I Need 100 Dollars Right Now

It is entirely possible to make 1000 dollars right now in one day. You need to have a clear idea on how to make the money. You need to be positive and embrace the idea, this will maximise your chances of making 100 dollars per day. In the past I have mowed lawns, washed cars, invested in the stock market and gone out on dates for $100 dollars so it is possible. Eventually you'll find something that you're a natural at meaning you can make more than a hundred bucks per day.

Here Are All the Suggestions Again - Good Luck

#1: Sell some Valuables for $100 dollars
#2: Offer Your Services for $100 Dollars
#3: Take out a 100 dollar Pay day loan
#4: Speculate in the stock market for 100 dollars
#5: Agree to go on a date for 100 dollars
#6: Wash 5 cars and mow 5 lawns for $100

Improving Credit Score Using Prepaid Credit Cards - Help I'm DESPERATE!

You can use prepaid credit cards to rebuild your credit score. While this blog may be about millionaires giving money away I like to help my readers out as much as possible. One recurring question that has popped up is ways to improve credit score. Prepaid credit cards are great if you have bad credit and allow a person to show that they are creditworthy over a period of time. Prepaid credit cards are available from Visa and MasterCard.

In this guide, we look at how to apply for prepaid credit cards specifically to repair bad credit. One point to remember is this is not an overnight process. Damaging credit is very hard, however, repairing credit takes time. The process will take at least 6 to 24 months before you see any significant improvement. Do not get duped by companies who claim to repair your credit overnight. These people are out to deceive you and will take money from you at every opportunity.

1: Get a Free Credit Report

The first step is to find the extent of the problem. I always advise people to get a free credit report which shows their credit history in detail. You could pay more to get more financial information on your credit report but this is not necessary. A free credit report will give you your latest score and all the debt which is recorded with your credit reference agency. You should get free credit reference reports from agencies such as Experian and Equifax which are approved by the Government.

2: Fix Mistakes on Credit Report

Your credit report is a snapshot of your financial health. However, credit reports are sometimes inaccurate. You should go through your report with a fine tooth comb to find any discrepancies. When you find mistakes contact your creditor and credit reference agency to rectify the mistake. Taking the time to correct the information on your credit history will raise your credit score.

3: Consolidate, Close, Pay More, Pay Early

Once you’ve got a list of all your debt your next step should be to consolidate all the outstanding balance on one account. Call all your creditors and ask them for a consolidation rate. Credit reference agencies like to see low-interest rates and fewer creditors in order to raise the credit score. You should also try to make payments that exceed the minimum payments. You should also try to pay a couple of weeks in advance. Both these actions show that you are committed to paying off the debt.

4: Apply for One Prepaid Credit Card

Applying for too many prepaid credit cards will have an adverse effect on your credit history. Every time you apply for credit there is a footprint on your credit report. Applying for too many accounts will show that you are desperate for money. Apply for one prepaid credit card at a time. Find a card which has a low annual charge and then apply for it. Some of the prepaid credit cards that you can consider include American Prepaid Credit Card, American Express Bluebird Prepaid Credit Card, Green Dot Card, and The Approved Card from Suze Orman. These cards are preferred for credit building. You should obviously find a prepaid credit card which has a lenient application process and low annual and monthly fees.

5: Top-Up Your Pre-Credit Card

Once you’ve received your prepaid credit card you should think about how much money you spend on a monthly basis. If you spend $500 per month on groceries then top your card up with $500. You should try and increase the amount you top your card with every month to build credit. Suppose you top up with $500 in month 1 you should try to increase this to $520 in month 2. This continual increase shows credit reference agencies that you can handle the higher credit limits without going crazy.

6: Spend Your Money Evenly Throughout the Month

You should space your purchases out evenly. Don’t blow your budget in the first week. Credit reference agencies want to see that you’re disciplined with your money. You should be able to control your impulses and spend slowly and surely.

7: Spend Less Every Month

Suppose you increase your prepaid top up by $20 per month. You should also try and reduce your shopping by $20 per month or more. By having an increasing monthly credit on your prepaid credit card you are showing credit reference agencies that you controlling your spending while increasing the amount you have available to you. This action will also help to improve your credit score.

8: Make Sure Every Payment Goes Through

Not only is it embarrassing when payments don’t go through it is also recorded by prepaid credit card companies who pass the information to credit reference agencies. Always know in advance how much you have and never ever exceed the limit otherwise you will be destroying your credit not improving it. Check your spending online to keep close tabs on the balances.

9: Recheck Credit Score after 6 Months

After 6 months you need to get another free credit report to check your score. If you’ve been disciplined you should notice an improvement in your creditworthiness. If there is an improvement you can apply for another card and then repeat the process. Find some other expense that you need to make and use prepaid credit cards to make the payments. As always increase the amount you top up every month and try to reduce the payments every month too. Recheck your credit every 6 months to check the progress.

10: Apply for Credit Cards

After 12 to 24 months of repeating this process, you should notice a significant improvement in your score. You need to try and apply for 1 credit card to see if you are approved. The chances are that you will be approved. Try to keep no more than 3 credit accounts open and maximize these cards. From time to time call your credit card company to ask for a rate reduction and limit increase.

You can improve your credit score using prepaid credit cards. By using this same procedure I was able to increase my credit score when I went through a bad patch with my credit accounts. Patience is the key. Spending 24 months to repair your creditworthiness is worth it because you’ll be saving money for the rest of your life.

Some of the organisations which will be reviewed in this 8 part series include 1800 Auto Donations, Online Car Donations, Vehicles for Change, With Causes, Modest Needs, Donate a Car, Free Gas USA and Free Car Autos. Hopefully this post will assist low income families who need help with car. Most individuals and families look towards payday loans, short term loans and bad credit loans to finance their car. Before you consider borrowing any money you should try your best to find a free car so you can save your money rather than pay off a loan. So without further ado here is the first review on 1800 Cars.

Free Cars for Low Income Families Review: 1800 Cars

If you’re on a low income and need help with a car you can turn to 1800 Cars to see if you are eligible for a free car. 1800 Cars was established in 1996 and is the first organisation to offer cars to low income families and individuals. The Mission Statement of the company was “To Engage in Activities That Will Uplift Humanity”. The free car organisation focuses its energies into providing free vehicles to assist struggling families who are making the move from dependency to self sufficiency.

1800 Free Cars operates one of the largest free car distribution programs in the United States and has awarded over 5000 free vehicles nationwide. The award winning program has received acclaim from celebrities such as Oprah, Montel, People Magazine, as well as Disney.
One of the reasons why 1800 Cars give away free vehicles is it has a profound effect on the outlook of a recipient’s life. Many low income individuals and families who have received a free car have remarked how it has helped give them a second chance in life by improving their quality of life and standard of living.

How to Get a Free Car

Who is Eligible for a Free Vehicle?

Most low income families will be eligible for a free car from 1800 Cars. There are some groups of people who will have a priority over others and these groups include the following; (1) Victims of Domestic Violence, (2) Disabled Veterans, (3) The Medically Needy, (4) Struggling Families, (5) Victims of Natural Disasters, and (6) The Homeless.

How Does the Process Work?

There is a two stage process when transferring a car to a needy person. The first stage is where 1800 Cars receive the donated vehicle. Donors fill out a form or call the organisation. A pickup of the vehicle is arranged and then the donor receives a tax receipt of full fair market value which is tax deductable when possible.

Once the free car has been inspected properly it will either be in working condition or need repairs. If the vehicle needs repairs it will be passed on to other organisation who repair old cars and then pass them onto to low income families who need help with a free car. When the vehicle is in working condition the it is offered to needy people all over the United States.

Low income families and individuals can apply for a free car by going to the Free Charity Cars Website. The process is very simple. You need to register for a free account. You then need to write a compelling profiling explaining why you need the free car. These profiles are then shared with the free Charity Cars website community as well as friends and family. When someone reads the profile they can vote for the person to receive the free car. Whichever person receives the most votes is then considered for the free vehicle.

How Can I Increase My Chances of Getting a Free Car?

To increase your chances of getting a free car you need to be in one of the groups which are preferred to receive a free car. This group as mentioned earlier includes (1) Victims of Domestic Violence, (2) The Medically Needy, (3) Victims of Natural Disasters, (4) Families Transitioning from Public Assistance Work, (5) Families Living in Transitional Shelters, (6) The Working Poor, (7) Non-Profit Organisations and (8) Veterans/ Military Families.

To increase your chances of getting a free car you need to create a compelling profile. You need to explain in depth and detail your current circumstances and how you are experiencing financial hardship and financial despair. Explain all the financial misfortunes you’ve had in the past. Once you’ve written about the past you need to write about the future. Explain in great depth and detail how a free car would change your life and how it would uplift yourself and your family.

Once you’ve perfected your free car profile you need to promote your pages to as many people as you can. Start by asking friends and family for votes to get a free car. You can also reach out to the community and ask for votes. You could also personally reach out to the members of the organisation and ask them for advice and guidance. These members include CEO Founder Brian Menzies, Spokesperson Ms. Rose Hill, and site administrator Miss Michelle Key.

You can also promote your free cars profile on other places such as Facebook.com, Twitter.com, Pinterest.com and other social media sites. Another great place to get votes is in YouTube. You can create videos and then reach out to people and ask them to help you out by voting on your profile.

Free Cars for Low Income Families

You should definitely turn to 1800 Cars if you’re on a low income and need help with a car. Before you consider any short term loans or bad credit loans you should see if you can get a vehicle for free. If you’re circumstances put you in one of the preferred groups your chances of receiving a free car increase. If you can promote your profile and get votes actively there is a very good chance that you could get a free car for low income families. In the future I will be writing more about getting help with car repairs for low income families so watch this space.
